Remarks & Notes

CNW 6916 skirts the shores of Goose Lake near Marquette, MI on a beautiful day in June of 1988. Alco's pulled these ore trains just a few years earlier, but the SD40-2's were nice in their own right. The top of a sunken ice fishing shanty can be seen in the lake just to the right of the locomotives. The recent closing of Empire Mine has reduced ore traffic on this line considerably.
