A mid-morning eastbound Amtrak Keystone arrives at the dilapidated station in Coatesville, PA. Coateville, rouighly 40 miles west of Philadelphia was once known as the "Pittsburgh of the East" thanks in part to Lukens Steel and a once thriving steel industry. The mill which once employed 10,000 is now owned by ArcelorMittel and employs about 2,000 workers. The station, to the left and out of view, is closed and in disrepair. SEPTA served the station until 1997, but severed its service one station east in Thorndale leaving Amtrak (surprisingly) the sole provider.
