        Remarks & Notes
A late morning eastbound SEPTA commuter train arrives at Downingtown station along Amtrak's Keystone line, former Pennsylvania Railroad. Despite its small footprint, the "station", oddly, serves most Amtrak Keystone trains, though, primarily serves commuters on SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line. Until November 7, 2011 one Sunday eastbound Amtrak Pennsylvanian train stopped here.

The original Downingtown station was built in 1862 by the Pennsylvania Railroad. That station was torn down and a new, and very handsome station was built to replace it in 1892. Sadly it was destroyed by fire in the early morning of February 24, 1992. The foundation from the old station can still be seen today. Currently, there are two Amtrak shelters here but plans have been in the books for years with progress moving forward on a plan to build a new modern ADA accessible station about a mile east on property once owned by Sunoco.
