The Pennsylvania Railroad's massive 1906 built pin-connected Parker through truss bridge looms in the background at Whitford, PA, as an Amtrak Keystone train races east towards Exton, PA. A westbound SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale commuter train can be seen in the distance, departing Whitofrd bound for Downington.
Measuring 375 feet, the still standing, yet abandoned bridge was two-tracked with overhead catenary and was part of a bypass known as the P&T (the Philadelphia and Thorndale Branch) which parallels the former PRR main line between Frazer and Thorndale. It was abandoned by Conrail in 1989. Below the bridge is Amtrak's Keystone line. The missing track, at this location, was removed by the PRR in the late 1960's.
