The Meridian Southern (MDS) came out shortly before lunch to make up tomorrow's train to head south towards Waynesboro, MS. The power for today's move is the company's "newest" power, a pair for former Santa Fe GE B23-7's. For those that are unaware, the Meridian Southern is a shortline that runs from Meridian, MS to Waynesboro, MS over what is the only remaining trackage of the former Mobile & Ohio (later GM&O) line to Mobile. MidSouth Rail abandoned the portion from Waynesboro to Mobile in the 80's after the ICG's neglect of the line.
