| Sometime in the 1840's, the Nashville & Chattanooga RR decided it would be easier to go straight up the Cumberland Escarpment, resulting in a 1.8% grade that has required helpers for its entire existence. Currently, CSX assigns a pair of ET44AH's with a Helper Link module to shove most trains up the grade. |
