On a Sunday afternoon in Penn Central's first summer, New York Central RS-3s gather at the Putnam Junction engine terminal in Brewster, NY, to await the Monday morning rush hour. By this time the following year, ex-NH FL9s would be displacing these Alcos in Harlem Line commuter service to eliminate the diesel-to-electric engine change at North White Plains.
