| It had to happen eventually...recently NJ Transit has been assigning their two remaining in-service F40PHs to revenue trains as cab car substitutes. For the past several years the "sisters" were relegated to work train service. This assignment is very fitting, as the earliest assignments for the F40s when delivered in the '80s was on the "Newark side" which included the Raritan Valley Line. Moments after the sun cleared the treeline at Dunellen, train 5422 appeared with 4120 subbing for an ailing MLV cab car. |
