CSX has begun experimenting with the use of distributed power in trains on the Water Level Route. Q004 and Q003 are the first to use these DPU locomotives, and usually run with one or two locomotives on the front and a single DPU placed midtrain near the rear. One of the first runs of this train with a DPU is pictured in Churchville, New York on a sunny fall morning at the end of October.
