| Another railway line of Chile, which was partly destroyed by the heavy floods in august 2015, was the "Tocopilla" of the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile from Tocopilla to Maria Elena (1067 mm gauge or 3 ft 6 in). The railway line was shut down in november 2015 and road traffic took over. In april of 2012, the loaded evening sodium nitrate train from Barriles down to Tocopilla with GE boxcabs 289A # 601 and # 607 is slowly running downgrade between Barriles and Quillagua towards Tocopilla. |
