| A loaded sand train eases down the steep Rutledge Hill into Ottumwa. The train is currently being walked over a pull apart. Coming down this 1.8% hill can be a challenge, especially when MofW wants walking speed. I was impressed how easy the engineer made it look. The train drops down into the Des Monies River Valley very quickly from Rutledge and then crosses the BNSF Ottumwa Sub at the bottom, which is about 1/2 mile in front of the train. Then a crew change in about 2 miles, and onto KC with the train. |
