    Remarks & Notes
Amtrak's California Zephyr makes good time as they blast thru Fairfield on the BNSF Ottumwa Sub. The train is passing the old ex-CB&Q freight depot which is still used by the BNSF MofW personnel. The Burlington and Missouri River Railroad built this 75.48 mile section from Burlington to Ottumwa, IA, from 5/1854 to 9/1/1859, and the first train to arrive in Fairfield was in 1858.

The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
