Near the end of their short tenure on Amtrak's Hartford/Springfield line, a pair of Budd SPV-2000 railcars cant into a curve south of Berlin, CT, on their way to a mainline connection at New Haven. Chronic mechanical troubles would lead to these cars being converted into unpowered coaches for Shore Line East commuter service.
With double tracking, CT Rail, a new regional service, and restoration of Springfield Union Station, the Connecticut Valley line has become once more an exciting place for train watching.
