    As the sun drops low in West Haven, CT, an Amtrak AEM-7 on the point of a Boston-Washington train speeds beneath a bank of the unique stubby semaphores installed here by the New Haven Railroad in 1914 when the line was electrified. The short left-handed arms were designed to clear pantographs.
