Crescent is where the B&M - D&H trackage splits 9.7 miles west of Mechanicville.  My notes are incomplete but retired B&M dispatcher Wayne Hills suspects this westbound is a "short turn" running between the B&M Mechanicville Yard and the Penn Central interchange at Rotterdam Jct.  When there was overflow traffic that could not be handled by the regular freights between these two points a crew was called for "short turn around service".
