A loaded ballast train idles in "Hawthorne Yard" adjacent to NJ Transit's Main Line. The bridge in the background carries the NYS&W main over NJ Transit at this location, and a physical connection between the two lines does exist here. Power for the train is a very interesting mix of a leased Helm GP40-3 and NJT U34CH 4181. The Helm unit was assigned to the NYS&W between 1992 and 1993. Susquehanna often loaded stone trains for NJ Transit during this era, and I'm wondering if this interesting consist actually operated together over the NYS&W to the limestone quarry at Limecrest, NJ.
