A merchandise freight with CR 6666 SD45-2 ex-EL 3681 trailing, travels north on Conrail's Corning Secondary. Through service on this line ended October, 1988. This former NYC line was dismantled from Wellsboro Junction at the north end, through the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" and Pine Creek Valley to this location at Jersey Shore. The right-of-way is now the Pine Creek Rail Trail.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
