Remarks & Notes

When delivered, the bold paint scheme on the Amtrak B32-8BWH units dubbed them Pepsi Cans. When the later version of the Amtrak scheme became more simplified the moniker was changed to Diet Pepsi Can. Ive always been fond of these units. Their non streamlined looks have always appealed to me. For reasons that I'm not really clear on in the 2010-2015 era, these units were found quite frequently on Amtrak's Pennsylvanian running between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. With the installation of ACSES (Positive Train Control) on the North East and Keystone Corridors, these units have been pushed to work train and yard service engines making mainline running, extremely uncommon. Here we see unit 513 leaning hard into the super elevated curve and past the Strasburg Rail Road interchange at Paradise under the old PRR catenary.
