      Remarks & Notes
Yes, the Deseret Power Ry occasionally does something other than haul coal. This day they ran a work train. The short train is seen here just after they finished dumping 3 of these side dump cars. They were carrying wet, partially frozen roadbed sub base material excavated from a soft, mushy fill at around MP 33. The track crew first removed the rail, then using a backhoe and front end loader dug out the soft spot. Then they put down a fabric liner of some sort and refilled the excavation with new, dry fill material. Lastly, the track went back in. All of this took a couple of days, before the RR was able to run trains again. Some time later, the RR ran this 3 car work train out to the new fill and picked up the fill that had been previously left beside the track. I showed up just in time to witness, but not photograph, the dumping of the wet fill at a storage spot of sorts on the loading loop. Pretty classy looking work train, don’t you think?

Some are loved, others are hated. In the end, they are failures.
