| "Dearing's" Final Ride? It's a quiet evening in downtown Los Angeles - setting the mood for what could possibly be the private car "Dearing's" final visit to the Southern California destination. Built in 1925, the 94-year-old "Dearing" and her owners have unfortunately had no choice but to abide by Amtrak's new private car policies. This has not only pushed the car to a new home for a mainline connection that an Amtrak train can pickup/drop off the car, but also severely limited the number of trips the car can make to select cities with prices rising in all directions. All this to say...the future for Dearing's time on the mainline looks to be drawing to a close. |
