Train No4, the Chicago bound Southwest Chief descends the east slope of Raton Pass as it heads for it's next stop of Trinidad then onward to La Junta for a crew change. The Santa Fe search lights and cantilever provide an extra touch to this late afternoon scene.
Two Amtrak routes serve the Centennial State. The California Zephyr's route through Moffat Tunnel and along the Colorado River goes from one end of the state to the other. The Southwest Chief cuts across the southeast corner.
