The Mother's Day Special! New York & Lake Erie RR Train Rides operated a 1000 run on Saturday, May 11, 2019 for Mother's Day. MLWs FPA4 6764 (ex-VIA 6764) and FPA2 6758 (ex-VIA 6758, neé-CN 6755) would do the honors, bringing the train down from Gowanda, NY to South Dayton, NY before running around the train for the return. With limited passenger trips and even more limited freight traffic in recent times, it was nice to see these 60 plus year old veterans out on the road. A wide view includes the Harry Austin Milling Company as well as the South Dayton commercial area.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
