UP 119's "tender behind." Although her stablemate, the CP "Jupiter" probably gets more love from fans (and views on RP), the UP 119 is one very pretty locomotive. The Rogers-built coal burner looks distinctly different from the Jupiter, with her distinctive, tall, straight stack and varnished wooden cab. But the more startling differences are in the painting of her tender. The striking combination of crimson, red, gold, black and gold leaf is less gaudy than Jupiter's colors.....and downright classy-looking. Note the painted scenes on the rear corners of the tender and also on her sand dome. Jupiter doesn't have these. Those scenes were personally painted by the late Ward Kimball, the famous Disney animator (and railfan). When I compare the two engines, the Jupiter is like a blonde "bombshell" and the 119,.....more like the girl next door. The latter kinda grows on you.
