| "The Great Race Across the Midwest," that is how UP sold the Big Boy's trip to commemorate the railroad's transcontinental 150th anniversary. The restored steam engine has been on a display across the UP's network for couple months now. As it headed back west the train passed thru Iowa on July 30 thru August 2. The train laid over in Cedar Rapids on July 30th. Today the train is now trekking west towards Des Moines for the next lay over on August 1st. Here the train passes a barn between Belle Plaine and Chelsea as they work across the Clinton Sub in east-central Iowa. |
