Remarks & Notes

Deep in Spruce Creek valley near Birmingham, a westbound ore train for US Steel in Clairton consisting of 109 jenny hoppers negotiates the tight passageway that confined the Broadway to three main tracks for some eight miles between the Spruce Creek tunnels and Tyrone. Iron ore was still moving inland from eastern ports as it had for decades. Fuji Sensia.
