No longer King of the Road, a former SCL U36B finds itself at the headend of a junk freight with a motley trio of geeps. Mailbox 'gangs' like the one in the photo were once common in many parts of the rural south, but are pretty tough to find these days.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
