The SPECTACULAR BC RAIL!!! The former BC Rail clings to the side of the cliffs above the mighty Fraser River. The small village is Fountain, part of a Native Indian Reserve along what was once the Caribou Road. The village is named after the turbulent waters of the Fraser River at this point, another several feet down from the ridge in the foreground. The waterfall resembling a fountain below the Highway 99 railroad overpass in the photo could also easily play a part in the name. Just to the left of the head-end power (north) of train 571 is the area of the 2016 landslide that moved the railroad and highway. The Canadian National has made a decent fix to the problem, however the highway is still plagued with problems. The highway 99 overpass also marks the beginning of the 2%+ portion of the climb to Kelly Lake. This major grade in sometimes called Kelly Lake Hill or the Pavilion Mountain Grade.
