PB&NE No.35 has a cut of slag cars in a scene of industrial America. Bethlehem was, of course, a huge generator of inbound and outbound rail traffic. Mills once proliferated in the eastern Pennsylvania region at such places as Swedeland, Coatesville, Phoenixville, Birdsboro, Pottstown, Steelton and Fairless. This Bethlehem Steel mill closed in 1995 and has since been partially preserved as a casino. Sort of a metaphor for the American economy, perhaps.
