NS 9398 leading a renumbered Conrail SD60 and 111 cars of manifest traffic rolls out the Juniata River valley at Leshville, a few miles east of Newport. J. Edgar Thompson's selection of this route in the mid-nineteenth century has since allowed PRR, Conrail and Norfolk Southern to run traffic with minimal hp/ton on river grade until confronting the Allegheny barrier at Altoona. G style color light signals were soon to replace the position light signals and bridge at this location.
