    Remarks & Notes
Few things can make a freight train look small. The 11,370ft John T. Collinson Bridge is one of those things. Here FURX 7156 leads a freight east across Escambia Bay on the bridge en-route to Tallahassee. From FIGG (the Engineering firm that built the bridge) - "This bridge introduced the use of precast segmental concrete technology for a heavy rail bridge in North America. It carries the rail line over Pensacola Bay en route from Jacksonville to New Orleans. The 100' spans rise on a 1% grade to a 100'-170'-100' continuous unit main span which provides 50’ vertical clearance and 134' horizontal clearance over the navigation channel. The bridge was designed to withstand the full weight of the standard Cooper E90 design load and to endure hurricane force winds as it has successfully in 2004 and 2005." Some may recognize FIGG in more recent news as the company responsible for designing the bridge that collapsed at Florida International University which resulted in 6 deaths.
