My very first encounter with the living, breathing, UP Big Boy, was this sloppy wet, chilly, and windy scene at Castle Rock, Utah, as the westbound Golden Spike Anniversary train appeared around the curve drifting downgrade into Echo Canyon. The EMD was holding back the tonnage with dynamic brakes, but the moisture in the air and the low temperatures highlighted all of the escaping steam from the double-headed stars of the show.
