The Empire Builder led by a BN E8 and two former GN F7Bs slows to a station stop at North La Crosse a year into Amtrak. In addition to handling passengers and baggage, a hostler will wash the face of the E8 (due to many bugs along the Mississippi River) and add water to the tanks under the locomotives. Then off to Milwaukee and Chicago.
