    Remarks & Notes
2-4-0 ST-T (saddle tank with tender) steamlocomotive "Blanche" of the Ffestiniog Railway is entering Tan-y-Bwlch station with a passenger train from Porthmadog. This powerful engine was built as an 0-4-0 ST by the Hunslet Engine Company, Leeds in 1893 for main-line service on the Penrhyn Quarry Railway. The locomotive came to the FR in 1964 and several rebuilts were made afterwards. Following the modifications Blanche was repainted in standard FR green, a colour she has retained ever since. The sign "Y Cymro" on the smokebox means in Welsh language "The Welshman", and was the name of a famous newspaper in the welsh language also.
