| An eastbound D&RGW manifest - running on rights granted as part of UP/MP merger - has just cleared at Bridgeport, allowing a westbound coal empty to resume its trek behind an SD50/C36-7 duo. The good-looking track in foreground is UP's Salina-McPherson branch. Traffic on the main and branch flourished for a while after the merger, and again after SP joined UP, but long-term the mergers meant death for these lines. The area shown in the photo is now just an empty field. |
