| "Emergency Tow Service at Westchester Ave"
Amtrak Extra 574 tows Regionals 171(5) and 93(5) west past the abandoned NYW&B Westchester Ave Station on Amtrak's Hell Gate Line in the Bronx. An explosion at one of the line's substations located next to Con Edison's Van Nest facility caused power on the line to be shut down forcing Amtrak to summon it's nearby diesel work engine fleet for emergency tow service. The diesels shuttled Regionals between Manor Interlocking (Pelham Manor) and Gate Interlocking (Queens). Acela trainsets were turned before reaching the outage area. |
