    Remarks & Notes
Following a February 1978 blizzard that dumped over two feet of snow in the Boston area, the Boston & Maine assigned locomotives to pilot lightweight RDC consists to prevent derailments at ice-packed grade crossings. Here B&M 1729 was ready to depart North Station for the suburbs with a pair of Budds in tow.
