| Shades of red at St. Paul. The important CP locomotive shop at Pigs Eye Yard in St. Paul is always a place to find interesting power. This view features a rare "clam shell" Action Red SD40-2 positioned to compare its slightly orange shade with the current CP red, which appears to have originated with the Soo Line's 1961 color scheme as seen on the nose of SOO 4448 to the right of CP 7308. The Action Red scheme is missed by many of us who enjoyed photographing CP from 1968 into the late 1980s. |
