| Winding through the forests of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Union Pacific 1995 leads a westbound Z train through the small community of Alta, California. This train is approaching the steepest section of the Donner Pass Route where grades top out at 2.4%. Due to the heavy braking required, the smell of brakes quickly replaced the fresh mountain air. |
