| With recent rains, the normally docile Feather River has become a streak of whitewater. Waterfalls appear as small creeks cascade a hundred feet down the rocky cliffs of the canyon. This scene is classic Feather River Route including inhospitable terrain, inclement weather and the famous Pulga Bridges. The arched bridge which allows for this viewpoint was built in 1932. It is part of Highway 70 and allows the highway to cross both the North Fork of the Feather River and the UP Canyon Subdivision below. In this shot, eight GE workhorses bring up the head end of an eastbound BNSF train as it slowly grinds up the Feather River Canyon. |
