| Things appear to be almost normal this afternoon as Amtrak 712 hustles across one of the rust-colored spans here at Orwood. Almost normal, because if one looks closely between the P42 shoving on the rear and the normal Amtrak California bi-level cars, a brand new Viewliner dining car can be seen along for the ride to Bakersfield. The odd placement of this and other Viewliner series cars came in late 2019 when BNSF began requiring Amtrak trains to have a specific amount of axles to ensure grade crossing circuits would be properly triggered. |
