CN 2008 and 2012 wait for their next assignment at Proctor, MN on a somewhat foggy September morning. These rebuilt GEs were in the process of replacing EMD models for much of the taconite train service on the former Missabe lines. CN 2008 began life as CNW 8509, built in July 1989 for Powder River Basin coal service. It became UP 9031 in August 1996, retired in January 2008, becoming CN 2008 in April 2013. CN 2012 had a similar history, built July 1989 as CNW 8504, becoming UP 9035.
