Remarks & Notes

Entering the remote Tunnel District east of Pinecliffe, Colorado, is an eastbound Union Pacific coal train threading Tunnel 27 on June 15, 2001. This view looks east down South Boulder Creek and is of the two rear DPUs, dynamic brakes whining away while keeping the loaded train in check on the 2 percent grade on this former Rio Grande main line.
