Everyone contributes. On July 1, 2016, Norfolk Southern Corp 2660 (SD70M-2) lead a manifest freight by the popular Cassandra Railroad Overlook in Cassandra, PA. One of the 130 purchased by NS between 2005-2006 (out of the 331 total produced by EMD), this week it was put up for auction along with 29 sister units. Although produced in limited numbers, this model holds a distinct place in modern history for debuting the "safety cab" whose variants have become the modern face of EMD wide cab locomotives. Shortly after the M-2 variant was produced, the SD70ACe took over the product line with an optically similar design, but AC motors.
