    Remarks & Notes
Skookum with a string of empties. Columbia River Belt Line #7 "Skookum" charges compass west up the hill at Vallejo Mill (MP 30.3) with a string of empty log bunks destined for a pick-up of some fresh timber. Vallejo Mill is the historical location of a large flour mill, which existed along this line when it was part of the first transcontinental railroad.

During her 45 year career as a log-hog in Oregon, Skookum served a total of 6 logging lines before a roll-over accident in 1955 almost finished her off. Due to the preservation efforts of several key individuals over the years, she was extracted from what should have been her grave, and after spending more than half a century as a loose collection of parts, she was finally restored to like-new condition in 2018, through the efforts of her current owner, Chris Baldo, and hard-working restoration crew at the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, Oregon.
