| With U.S. Steel closing their Keewatin Taconite iron ore mine/plant due to the current soft demand for steel, the firm is supplying its Granite City mill with ore from its large Minntac mine. Keewatin Taconite had supplied Granite City with is ore needs. BNSF handles the lion's share of the haul to Granite City (near St. Louis), but CN serves Minntac, so BNSF delivers and picks up the trains at CN's Keenan yard. The first such empty move is seen arriving at Keenan with a BNSF leader and two CP units (one on the rear in distributed power). |
