Another railway line of Chile, which was partly destroyed by the heavy floods in august 2015, was the "Tocopilla" of the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile from Tocopilla to Maria Elena (1067 mm gauge or 3 ft 6 in). The railway line was shut down in november 2015 and road traffic took over. In april 2012 the two General Electric "Boxcabs" 289A # 601 "Andrea" and # 607 "Alejandra" are on the way down from Barrilles with a loaded sodium nitrate (NaNO3) train to the harbour in Tocopilla. The SQM had 7 of this 60 ton boxcabs (# 601 to 607) for 1500 V DC, all built in 1927 by GE in Schenectady, New York.
