| One of my favorite spots all day: Welch, WV. If this place doesn't scream coal country then I don't know what does. Here, NS #4087 crosses over McDowell Street and the Tug Fork River just west of downtown Welch while she is spied on by uninhabitable and still semi-inhabitable coal houses perched upon the mountains and hills lining the town. As I commented to my friend who took me on this adventure, how people live or have lived in these houses is beyond me. The house two from the left seems to be ready to collapse down the hillside. |
