Penn Central RS3 5230 heads up the weekday Pittsfield-Adams local northbound at Lanesboro, MA, on the former Boston & Albany North Adams branch. In PC days the Adams-North Adams portion of this branch saw no regular service since there were no customers north of Adams, but when the Boston & Maine took over in 1981 the B&M began operating it from the North Adams end. This trackage south of Adams was later abandoned.
