Jointed rail, 3 geeps, and a 7 car local...doesn't sound like a class 1 operation in the US anymore, but the UP Oskaloosa Local out of Marshalltown was all that on Monday. The local departed Marshalltown with 3 cars for Grinnell and 4 potash for Cargill AG Horizons near New Sharon, and came back with 2 cars from Grinnell. Here the local rolls over the North Skunk River near New Sharon on this ex-M&St.L trackage. In about 1/2 mile they will setout these 4 cars, and then start the trip back to Marshalltown light engine with small stop at Grinnell.
