Burlington Northern NW5 988 resting at Hillyard in October 1970. The 988 was built as GN 188 in December 1946 and was retired in April 1982. The NW5 was an unpopular model and only 13 were built with 10 going to the Great Northern. The short hood housed a steam boiler for passenger service.
